“This work was written in response to the international protests against the actions of the Iranian government. Several months prior to writing the work, I joined tens of thousands of passionate Iranians in participating in these protests. During these demonstrations, I was often overwhelmed by sudden waves of intense emotions that deeply impacted my state of mind and stayed with me long afterward. The Verona Quartet beautifully premiered this work with bass clarinetists Margali Grenier, Milo Pomerance, Heather O’Gara, and conducted by Sarah K. Watts at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, NS.”
Danial Sheibani
