“The piece uses a sequence of randomly chosen time signatures within the context of a designated range, this is the only ‘artificial’ specific strategy. The melodic and harmonic progressions are intuitively generated. However, the music exhibits clearly articulated varied repetitions.
I feel that the overall effect is successful and aesthetically satisfying.
My philosophy of structuring favours / savours the play between predetermined strategies like serial techniques and similar methods and random as well as intuitive elements in what I would describe as creative dialogues.” Melvin Clive Bird
