  1. Recorded at Oktaven Studios in August, 2023 by the Ulysses Quartet and Oskar Espina Ruiz, clarinet

Premiere at the Treetops Chamber Music Society in New Canaan CT in April 2023. Ulysses String Quartet and Oskar Espina Ruiz.

The Suite for Clarinet Quintet was written in the fall and winter of 2022/2023. I had the good fortune of being able to hear the Ulysses Quartet play it as a work-in-progress in late January, which resulted in a number of changes to the piece. A few additional changes were made this week during rehearsal. Its premiere is today at the Treetops Chamber Music Festival, and it will be played again in August at Music Mountain in Falls Village, Connecticut. The Suite is in five fairly short movements, all with different characters. I wrote the last movement – Frolic – first, and its playful and happy mood influenced the rest of the piece greatly. As with all of my music, I try to provide each of the musicians with interesting parts that showcase their talents. I hope the performers enjoy playing the Suite and the audience enjoys listening to it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
